June 20th Jurade: Spring Festival
Twice a year, members of the Jurade parade through the streets of Saint-Emilion wearing impressive red robes adorned with ermine, recalling their power in centuries past. The Fête du Printemps, or Spring Celebration, is the occasion to confirm the quality of the new vintage.

Saint-Emilion Sunday, September 13th «Announcement of the Harvest» (vintage banns) by the Jurade.
The Ban des Vendanges takes place on the third Sunday in September. The vintage banns are proclaimed at this time. Future intronisés (people received into the vinous brotherhood) accompany members of the Jurade from Parc Guadet to the church, where a Mass is celebrated. The intronisations (induction ceremonies) are later carried out in the cloister. Lunch at both of these events provides the opportunity to taste a broad range of Saint-Emilion wines.
At the end of the meal, an evaluation of new wine in June, and vintage banns in September, are solemnly proclaimed from atop the Tour du Roy by the members of the Jurade.
