A Look at the Best Bordeaux Wine Harvest Experience

In this short video we give you a peek inside our Luxury Bordeaux Harvest Tour, one of our popular small group programs. Perfect for the connoisseur who wants to experience the best Bordeaux wine harvest experience–from grapes to glass.

(Transcript) Hi, I’m Pascale Bernasse, president of French Wine Explorers. Our company provides wine tours in France designed exclusively to help wine lovers become connoisseurs.

One of the best times to be in Bordeaux is in September or October during the harvest season. Our Bordeaux Harvest program is designed to help you discover Bordeaux from grapes to glass. So not only do you get to enjoy the beautiful scenery, but you get to enjoy the harvest first hand.

You’ll get to know the major appellations of Bordeaux and taste some of the most prestigious wines of the region. And, in addition to that, you get to spend the day with a wine maker learning the harvest and the blend.

After the harvest you’ll enjoy a traditional harvest lunch with the pickers and then you’ll learn the magic of the blend through a blending class. In addition to all those fabulous experiences, you’ll stay at a five star hotel that’s centrally located in the historic district of Bordeaux.

“Pascale reserved a gorgeous room at the Grand Hotel de Bordeaux with a balcony that overlooked the opera. And we would sit on the balcony every night with a great bottle of wine and watch performers gather in the square below us.”

And you’ll experience wine tasting meals at some of the most prestigious estates of the region.

“The food was amazing. Not only was it delicious, it was like art.”

Our guides live and work in Bordeaux. They’re considered Bordeaux insiders and they’re professionally trained Bordeaux wine experts.

“Our guide was Sherry and I can’t say enough wonderful things about her. She was so generous with her knowledge.”

In addition, you have the opportunity to taste wines from St. Emilion and Pomerol.

“St. Emilion was just beautiful and so historic. It’s a medieval village built on a hillside, so the vistas are spectacular.”

The Harvest program is the perfect program for the wine lover who wants to experience Bordeaux during the harvest season, while also tasting some of the most exclusive wines of the region and boutique producers.

“What I appreciated the most about the planning was there was a great balance between planned activities and then unscheduled time. Pascale just knows the importance of allowing you to have those unplanned moments to really explore the area, and that’s when the magic happens.”
