Locanda dell’ Amorosa
A majestic cypress tree-lined drive leads to the main gate of the
fairytale-like Locanda dell' Amorosa. This romantic Tuscan country inn,
surrounded by luxurious gardens, was a self-contained village in the 14th
century and was later owned by Pope Pius II. The buildings of the estate are
surrounded by acres of stunning farmland, vineyards, orchards and woods,
perfect for walking. The air conditioned guest rooms are located in the
main manor house, and offer discreet rustic chic décor with sumptuous fabrics
and spacious bathrooms. The candlelit restaurant, La Coccole dell'
Amorosa (which was once a stable), has stone walls and a wonderful menu of
finely prepared Tuscan classics with modern touches. Local cheeses from Pienza,
Chiana beef and white truffles are all specialties at the restaurant.
There is also a wine bar serving light meals and fine local wines. A
large pool is available for your enjoyment in warm weather. http://www.amorosa.it/
Villa Il Tessoro
A
romantic, recently restored 17th-century Villa, Il Tesoro is the ideal base
for visiting the cutting edge Maremma region. The Villa hotel is surrounded by miles of unspoiled Tuscan
countryside with vineyards and olive groves, and from the grounds
there are superb views of the hills and the sea only 10 miles away. Your
air conditioned room will be an elegantly decorated,
spacious Suite, with neutral colors, modern fabrics and rustic
touches. There is a pool in the Italian garden to refresh you in warm
weather. The
cozy restaurant at the Villa is called Il Fiore del Tesoro. The chef,
Giuseppe Mellino, has been receiving great reviews from the press with his
"cucina" based on fresh seafood, market fresh vegetables and
tradition Tuscan cooking with a modern flair.
The hotel also has a wine bar enoteca, and a living room where drinks are
served free of charge. http://www.villailtesoro.com/en/index.html
